The drive is 37 km and normally takes 1 hr 15 min to 1 hr 45 min. The first half follows the bypass around the southern coast, then the road turns inland and climbs through the rice terraces and jungle villages that sit between the airport and Ubud.
Delays are most common in the late afternoon and early evening, when tour buses and local traffic share the narrow two-lane road into Ubud. Rainy-season showers, roughly November to March, can add fifteen to twenty minutes on the winding section.
